Household questionnaire

The first stage of our Parish Plan project involved asking each household to complete a questionnaire. Ours was designed and tested by a group of Burton Latimer residents before being distributed to all households in the town.

What topics did the household questionnaire cover?

The questionnaire asked 22 questions, covering nine important themes. Some of the questions asked people to assign a quality rating to specific aspects of Burton Latimer, and others provided space for people to give their views.

Why was it important to complete this questionnaire?

The questions were designed to give local residents the chance to say what they value about living in Burton Latimer and how they think the experience of living and working in the town may be enhanced in the future. For this exercise to be worthwhile it was important to hear from as many households as possible.

What were the findings from the questionnaire?

The questionnaire was delivered to all 3,200 households in Burton Latimer in February 2011, along with guidance on how to fill it in. 706 completed questionnaires were returned by the closing date - making a response rate of 22%. A full analysis report of the findings from the returned questionnaires is available, along with a shorter summary version.

The full report can also be viewed at Burton Latimer Library and at the Civic Centre. Copies of the summary report were delivered to every Burton Latimer household as an insert to the Late Autumn 2011 edition of Burton Latimer News - the Councillors' re-named quarterly newsletter - in November 2011.

What happened next?

The Parish Plan steering group held a drop-in sesion at the Civic Centre on Saturday 3rd December 2011. This was an opportunity for local residents to discuss the results of the questionnaire analysis and to comment on - and influence the content of - the draft version of Burton Latimer's Parish Plan.

The final version of the Parish Plan was published in December 2012. The document contains a list of actions to be taken, with clearly defined responsibilities and timescales. It was approved by Burton Latimer Town Council in 2013 and adopted by Kettering Borough Council in November 2014.
