Local walk - Burton Bracer

The walk starts from the free public car park in Church St, in front of the Olde Victoria pub.

On leaving the car park, turn left along Church Street. After a few yards, turn left immediately after the Jacobean house (No.1) into Preston Court. Pick up the path at the far end of this cul-de-sac, and after only a few yards your route is crossed by another footpath. Turn left along this well-surfaced track and continue past the rear gardens of houses on your left to reach Kettering Road.

Turn right along Kettering Road, and continue beyond the mini-roundabout with Station Road as far as Burton Latimer Hall (No.2) on your right. Cross the road at this point and return along Kettering Road towards the town.

For a longer walk at this point, you can turn right along Station Road to the start of the Pocket Park Potter (No.3). Otherwise, continue walking towards the town along Kettering Road, passing the war memorial (No.4) on your left at the junction with Church Street.

Continue straight on into High Street until, just after Churchill Way, you reach the town's Millennium Garden (No.5) on the right.

Cross the road at the pelican crossing, and walk back along High Street towards the war memorial. After a few yards, turn right through a wide gap in the stone wall, and after another 25 yards turn right again along a path that winds between high fences to emerge into a quiet residential road. As this road bends to the right, take the narrow path off to the left (immediately after house No.16) by a telegraph pole.

Follow this path as it passes first through a wooded area, then - after crossing the lane that leads to the cemetary - along a track between hedges, and finally, across an open field, to reach Wold Road at a stile.

For a longer walk at this point, you can turn right along Wold Road to take the Wind Farm Wander (No.6). Otherwise, turn left along Wold Road and then left again into Church Street when you reach the junction.

Continue along Church Street and pass St Mary's Church (No.7) and the Manor House (No.8) on your left before returning to your starting point at the Old Victoria.
