Friends (& Friends Plus) of the library

The Friends of Burton Latimer Library aim to support and raise the profile of the town's library. It was the first 'Library Friends' scheme to be set up in north Northants.

Aims and activities

The Friends scheme, along with the closely-related Friends Plus group, hopes to encourage wider use of the library by organising a range of extra activities - such as book sales, children's events, coffee mornings and author events.

How to get involved

Both the scheme and the Friends Plus group are open to library members and non-members. To find out more, either...

*** NEW for 2017 ***
Jump into June with our Art Safari!
The Friends of Burton Latimer Library are inviting local artists of all ages to create animal-inspired works of art for a community-orientated exhibition. All submitted work will have a chance to go on public display - and to win amazing prizes!

Artists can enter a maximum of two pieces of work, which can be anything you like (as long as it is inspired by animals!). The entries will be judged, and a final selection will then be displayed at various venues around the town, to create an Art Safari Trail. A catalogue and map listing the location of each piece of work on show will be available from the library, so that people can follow the trail and vote - either at the library or on the library's Facebook page - for their favourites.

If you wish to take part, please bring your works of art to the library on 13th & 14th May between 10am and 3pm (ALL entries must be delivered at this time if you wish to be considered for selection). There are three categories - for juniors (ages 5-11 years); seniors (ages 12-17 years); and adults (age 18+). An overall winner from each category will be selected by the public and receive a prize. The Friends of the Library will also commission one of the artists to create a new logo for the Friends group.

The exhibition will run from the 1st to the 30th of June, when voting will close at 6pm. The winners will be announced at the prize-giving evening in the 2nd week of July.
