Maureen JerramCouncillors
Maureen Jerram (Town Mayor)

I have been an Independent town councillor for over 12 years. During that time I have served on nearly all the committees and have served a year as Town Mayor. I am currently Deputy Mayor.

When I retired after 27 years working for Social Services I started a small business, and now run a very successful Boarding Cattery. In addition I do a lot of voluntary work within the Burton Latimer Community. I am a Governor at Meadowside Primary School, a member of the Patients Forum at the local surgery, and I co-ordinate the Burton Latimer Duck Race and Fete that takes place in the Pocket Park each year.

Within the town council I am actively involved with the Financial Monitoring Group, the Sports and Leisure Group, the Civic Centre Management Board, the Pocket Park Management Board and the Christmas Lights switch-on. I also do all the risk assessments and health & safety assessments for the town council.

I have two daughters who both live locally, and two grandchildren. I feel blessed to have my family living in the area - we are a very close family, and it means I see a lot of them. I have very little spare time, but when I have a few minutes I enjoy knitting and make things such as beanie hats, gloves and scarves to sell for charity. I also really enjoy crossword puzzles, sudoku and reading.
