Castelnuovo Magra, Italy

Castelnuovo Magra is a small town in the Province of La Spezia, in the Liguria Region of northern Italy.

Following the succcess of the Altendiez twinning arrangement, it was felt that it would be nice for Burton Latimer to have another twin. The Twinning Association in London was approached and Italy was specified as at that time there were no other towns in the Northamptonshire who had links with an Italian town.

Castelnuovo Magra is a medieval hill town, and has an ancient castle. The town is now famous in Italy for Vermentino dei Colli di Luni, a DOCG white wine.

Visit to Castelnuovo Magra, October 2015

Burton Latimer Twinning Association's visit to our Italian twin town in October was a great success.

The visitors from Burton Latimer were made very welcome by their Italian hosts, and were treated to a wide variety of enjoyable experiences in Castelnuovo Magra and the surrounding area.

During the week, members of the group were taken on visits to Pisa, Florence, and the Cinque Terre villages on the Ligurian coast. They also enjoyed a number of wonderful meals courtesy of their generous hosts - who have been invited to make a return exchange visit to Burton Latimer in 2016.
